Cumulative flows: FII and DII running totals

Single days are noisy. A running total shows how much FIIs and DIIs have bought or sold over the month, quarter or year so far.

What it is
FII and DII running totals of daily net flow, restarting at the period you choose.
Data it uses
NSE's provisional FII/DII cash-market report: buy, sell and net in ₹ crore for each session.
Covers
Combined NSE, BSE and MSEI trades (the default), or NSE alone
Updates
Each trading day, from NSE's evening report (read between 18:30 and 21:30 IST); NSE may revise a provisional figure

What the chart shows

  • Two lines, FII and DII, each adding the session nets as they come.
  • Each named period restarts at zero: the financial year on 1 April, the quarter on Indian financial quarters.
  • Custom counts from the dates you pick. The table lists both running totals by date.

How it is worked out

Each point is the sum of daily net flow from the period's first held session to that date, in ₹ crore.

How to read it

The slope matters more than the level: a line flattening out means the buying or selling is slowing.

Controls

  • Reset by: Month, Quarter, FY (Apr-Mar), Calendar year or Custom
  • Custom: from and to dates
  • Range: 1 month to all the history held
  • Report: Combined (NSE+BSE) or NSE only
  • Download as CSV

Keep in mind

Running totals cover only the sessions held; a missing day adds nothing.

Cumulative flows questions

When does the financial year reset?

On 1 April, the start of India's financial year. Pick Calendar year to reset on 1 January instead.

Is this the same as NSDL's FPI total?

No. It adds NSE's provisional daily figures. NSDL's totals count by settlement date and include primary issues.
